Water Lily - Intermediate

Step 1:

Click on the link to download the .pdf template for the pop-up Water Lily:

Step 2:

​​​Print out both pages from the template onto heavy paper, such as card stock or construction paper.

Step 3:

Using a ruler as a guide, take the rounded end of a paper clip (or a ballpoint pen that has run out of ink) press along the dotted lines of the pop-up pieces.

Step 4:

Using a ruler as a guide, take the rounded end of a paper clip (or a ballpoint pen that has run out of ink) and press along the dotted line on the center of the card. Go all the way from top to the bottom of the card!

Step 5:

Carefully cut out the pop-up pieces for the flower following the solid, black lines.

Step 6:

Carefully cut out the flower's card following the solid, black lines.

Step 7:

Take all three pop-up pieces...

Step 8:

...and flip them over so the black dotted lines are NOT visible. Color the flower pieces with markers or crayons.

Step 9:

Take piece "A" and fold the sides back so the center fold comes towards you.

Step 10:

Lay the piece on the flat surface and fold up the lower right tab.

Step 11:

Fold up the lower right tab. Set the piece aside.

Step 12:

Fold the card in half along it's center and open up again.

Step 13:

Put a small amount of glue along the upper two glue areas ONLY! DO NOT put glue on the lower glue areas yet.

Step 14:

Take piece "A" and align over the matching glue areas and press onto the card. The pop-up piece will lay flat against the card when it is in position. Let dry!

Step 15:

Take piece "B" and fold the small tab back.

Step 16:

Take hold of both sides and fold them up towards you so the center becomes a valley.

Step 17:

You will be inserting peace "B" into piece "A" that is already glued to the card.

Step 18:

Starting from the right side, begin inserting piece "B" into piece "A" as shown. Make sure the small tab on piece "B" is still folded up and you can see it.

Step 19:

Continue inserting piece "B" into piece "A". The right side of piece "B" should come all the way down into piece "A" until it stops. The point is shown by red arrow.

Step 20:

Carefully bring down the left side of piece "B" All the way down into piece "A". Piece "B" MUST be snugly inserted into piece "A" and should be equally positioned as shown.

Step 21:

Pus a small amount of glue on the small tab on piece "B".

Fold the small tab with the glue over onto piece "A" and press. Let dry!

Step 23:

Take piece "C" and fold the sides back so the center fold comes up towards you.

​Step 24:

Lay the piece on a flat surface and fold up the lower left tab.

Fold up the lower right tab.

Step 26:

Put a small amount of glue along the lower to glue areas.

Step 27:

Take piece "C" and align over the glue areas... and press onto the card.

Step 28:

...and press onto the card. The pop-up piece will lay flat against the card when it is in position. Let dry!

Carefully close the card.

Step 30:

Your pop-up flower card is complete, just in time for Mother's Day!
