Valentines Bear - Beginner

Step 1:

Step 2:

​​​​Print out both pages from the template onto heavy paper, such as card stock or construction paper.

Step 3:

Using a ruler as a guide, take the rounded end of a paper clip (or ballpoint pen that has run out of ink) and press along the dotted lines of all pop-up pieces.

Step 4:

Using ruler as a guide, take the rounded end of a paper clip (or a ballpoint pen that has run out of ink) and press along the dotted line on the center of the card. Go all the way from the top to the bottom of the card!

Step 5:

Carefully cut out the pop-up pieces for the bear following the solid, black lines.

Step 6:

Carefully cut out the bear's card following the solid, black lines.

Step 7:

Take the main body of piece of the bear...

Step 8:

...and turn it over so the dotted lines are no longer visible.

Step 9:

Fold the bear's body in half with the center fold coming towards you and the ears and legs moving away from you.

Step 10:

Take hold of the left leg and bring it up towards the body along the fold line. Crease and return the leg to its original position.

Take hold of the right leg and bring it up towards the body along the fold line. Crease and return the leg to its original position.

Step 12:

This is how your bear should now look.

Step 13:

Take hold of the tab at the bear's left shoulder and crease it to the back of the body along the fold line. Leave the tab creased behind the bear's body.

Step 14:

Take hold of the tab at the bear's right shoulder and crease it to the back of the body along the fold line. Leave the tab creased behind the bear's body.

Step 15:

Take the piece that has the bear's hands on it, crease in half along the fold line and return to its original position.

Step 16:

Put a small amount of glue ONLY in the two glue areas near the center fold line. DO NOT put glue anywhere else on the piece at this time.

Step 17:

Leave the bear's arms laying down flat. Take the bear's body and TURN IT OVER so that you can now see the dotted lines on the bear's body. Place the body to far left of the bear's arms. Align the tab on the right side of the bear's body with the glue area at the left. Fold the tab down into the glue area.

Step 18:

The tab that you just glued down will now be used as a hinge. Take hold of the bear's body and flip it over to the right (the dotted lines on the bear's body will no longer be visible). Position the remaining tab over the glue area on the right arm and press down to dry.

Step 19:

Put a small amount of glue at both glue areas on the bear's hand.

Step 20:

Slip the heart pieces into both hands and let the glue dry.

Step 21:

Take the card and fold it in half, creasing well. Open the card.

Put glue on the both glue areas of the card.

Step 23:

Take the bear and position it over the glue areas. Press into the glue making sure the bear lays completely flat. Let the glue dry!

Step 24:

Carefully begin to close the card, helping the bear fold down if necessary.

Step 25:

Your Valentine bear is finished! color with crayons or marker and send to a loved one!
