We are almost though with another great semester at Pratt Institute. Professor Olmon has full class of excited art kids for an introduction to pop-up basics. The students have learned how to create and reproduce their pop-up creations. Recently, they have been charged with the task of creating a spooky pop-up card. Here is a sampling of some of our favorite projects. Let’s wish them luck as they finish up their big final assignments.
Halloween cards would not be complete with out ghosts in graveyards and a witch’s brew. This one covers all the bases.
This very impressive pop-up card depicts the spooky characters that haunt the night sky!
Everyone loves candy on Halloween…except from Frankenstein’s monster!
A haunted house makes a fitting backdrop for the witch, black cat, and a skeleton plucking eyeballs!?!?
Here we have a colorful celebration of the Day of the Dead holiday complete with sugar skulls and votive candles.
This werewolf wants to wish everyone a “Happy Howl-o-ween”!
The pumpkin patch is not a place to be on All Hallow’s Eve, especially if you are dressed as one.
To memorialize Harry Houdini, who died on Halloween, one student used a clever knock-knock joke in their pop-up card.
Finally, in this larger format pop-up we find a wonderful three-dimensional depiction of gluttony and greed from the seven deadly sins. Can you make out the hungry, hungry hippo?
We'll bring you more Pop-ups from Pratt as the semester continues! And good luck Professor Olmon!
