September Sneak Peek  A Dazzling display of Movable Books on view at the Los Angeles Central Library! 



   
One of the best pop-up makers from the 1960's and 1970's was Vojtch Kubasta of Prague His best work is on display in beautiful glass cases.  Could Robert be getting inspiration from this pop-up version of Alice in Wonderland by Hallmark from the 1970's?  A second exhibition on the first floor galleries "Leaping Off the Page: building Pop-up Books" shows how paper engineers create their work.
 



   
David Carter's "Bugs in a Box" are shown from initial concept all the way through final production.  Ron van der Meer's classic pop-up, "The Architecture Pack" springs to life in a variety of white, 3D preliminary studies.  Paper engineer Matthew Reinhart (left) joins long time friend Alvaro Lopez of Intervisual Communications in the pre-opening celebration.
 


Robert Sabuda's "Wizard of Oz" is shown in several different design stages and includes a cut block of linoleum from which the artwork was printed.
 

Jan Pienkowski's unforgettable "Robot" fills a display case with original art and finished mechanicals.
