The Sixth Biennial Movable Book Society Conference!
Every two years, artists, collectors and librarians from around the world meet up to share their love for pop-up and movable books. This year the city of Chicago became our backdrop for a frantic weekend of seminars, demonstrations, and camaraderie. Here is a taste of what the conference had to offer over three days of fun, friends and french volvelles. Here is a shot of the busy hands and big smiles from everyone hard at work constructing their own copy of Paul Wehr's The Animated Bunny's Tail.

Ana Maria Ortega and Alvaro Gutierrez traveled from Palencia, Spain to share their knowledge and passion for pop-up books. They gave fascinating examples of pop-ups being integrated in music and architecture.

Shawn Sheehy is all smiles after moderating a lively discussion with Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart at Columbia College.

Chuck Fischer displays Christmas in New York and describes how creating a pop-up book is like building a house.

Every conference Linda Costello surprises us with colorful pop-up books about animals of immense proportions. Just imagine how big her bookshelves are!

Bruce Foster helps some of the conference goers create their own commemorative movable memento as Andy Baron provides detailed instructions.

At the banquet dinner, John Railing shared interesting and little known anecdotes about the life of master paper engineer, Ib Penick.

As the end of the conference draws near, Ellen Rubin presents the Meggendorfer Award won by David Carter for his amazing One Red Dot!
