The Semperoper is situated at the Theaterplatz in the town Dresden in Germany near the river Elbe. The original building was designed by Gottfried Semper in a late Classical style and opened its doors in 1841. In 1945 during World War II it was destroyed. The reconstruction, one of Europe's most beautiful opera houses, reopened in 1985. |

This is a Monument of the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig, Germany "Všlkerschlachtdenkmal, Leipzig" It is a monument to the Battle of the Nations of 1813, completed in 1913 for the 100th anniversary of the battle. The structure is 91 meters high and is one of Leipzig's main landmarks. In the front a statue of the archangel Michael watches to protect against invaders. |
