The Soviet era pipe work is truly ancient, in some cases no water at all comes through the system, creating a very dangerous situation for the children who play on the orphanage’s grounds.
The old well barely functions and supplies water intermittently at best. This only outdoor outlet is used for both washing and cleaning.
The first step to rectifying the situation was to bring in a back hoe, a very expensive endeavor for an struggling orphanage.

The children were both fascinated (and a bit scared) as the enormous piece of equipment roared to like and began its work.
After the back hoe was finished digging, a huge drill bit moved in to grind away a very deep hole to begin laying the pipe for the new well.
The pipes arrive that will carry the cleaner water from a deeper water table to the rest of the orphanage.

Another truck arrives (and look at the make of that truck, how old is that?!) to begin inserting the pipe into the ground.
Piece after piece of pipe heads down to the new water table level that will supply fresh drinking water to the orphanage for years to come. All of this work simply would not be possible without your continued commitment.
As winter approaches, donations also help provide the firewood that is necessary to heat the orphanage’s ancient stoves.
