Good News from CCRfund!

It is now possible to donate actual items, although only very SPECIFIC items to the orphans in the Republic of Georgia.

A very large, reputable organization that assists with humanitarian assistance efforts worldwide, Counterpart International, www.counterpart.org, (through a grant by the U.S. State Department) has designated an 8'x8'x20' cargo container to be filled with donations for CCRfund. Please know that ALL CCRfund donations will go directly to the orphans at Telavi, Georgia.

However there are many restrictions set in place by the State Department that leaves us with a wonderful, but limited opportunity.

Therefore, all donors who wish to donate ACTUAL ITEMS must first contact Gloria Collins at CCRfund: gloriaccrfund@comcast.net.

Gloria will be able to confirm that the items you are donating are allowed by the State Department. She will also need the following information: item, quantity, approximate dimensions of the box and the weight of the filled box.
The following items are allowed for donation:

School supplies:
Notebooks, paper, pencils, colored pencils, crayons, rulers, pens, chalk, erasers, and blackboards are acceptable. (NO markers, glue or other supplies allowed).

Hygiene products:
Bar Soap (if there is an expiration date it must be 18 months or longer), toothbrushes and menstrual pads are the only hygiene products we can send at this time.

Medical supplies:
Cotton balls, cotton swabs, gauze, bandages and dressings, surgical/adhesive tape, band-aids, Ace bandages, crutches, walkers and wheelchairs.

Linens:
Pillows, pillow cases, sheets (most beds are "twin" size), blankets and quilts. Telavi is in need of an additional 150 blankets ("easy care" for laundering purposes). Towels, hand towels and wash cloths. Towels should be of moderate thickness as anything too heavy will be difficult to dry.

Furniture:
Please contact Gloria gloriaccrfund@comcast.net for specific information regarding donating new school furniture.
The donations deadline for this large container is JUNE 30TH. So if you would like to donate items, please do not delay! Thank you!

We have already received a very generous donation of tables and chairs for the cafeteria from a company called Virco. When they heard about the deplorable state of the orphans cafeteria furniture they contacted Gloria and sent 30 tables and 237 chairs for her to put in the cargo container!

Of course, if you prefer, you can still send your donation via credit card but this is wonderful news for the orphans since mailing items to them has been extremely difficult. We wish there were more items on the list for you to be able to send but unfortunately only the humanitarian assistance items on this list will be allowed to ship via this program, please discuss your desire to donate with Gloria at gloriaccrfund@comcast.net.

Thank you all so very much for your continued support. Your contributions make such a difference in the lives of these children, who are already having such a rough time (yes, in the pictures they are carrying their own wood to heat the decrepit, old heaters!). We'll continue to keep you up to date on their progress of the orphans and please spread the word that they need help. Thank you!
