Pop-up Catalogs Take Off!
Pop-up exhibits are becoming more common each day around the world (thank goodness!) but one thing that is rarely discussed is the wonderful catalogs that are be made to accompany the shows. Here are just a few examples of some of the pop-up catalogs we've come across that we just know will make you wish you'd seen the exhibit!
"Pop-up: Llibres Movibles I Tridimensionals"
curated by Quim Corominas.
The catalog for this Dutch exhibit features a variety of movables including a transformation in the cover... ...that, when pulled, reveals an 18th century engraving. The inside of the catalog features pop-ups, 3D spirals and even a rocket that blasts off when a tab is pulled!
This wonderful catalog features a rotating wheel in the cover that when turned reveals and wipes away the show's title! Quim Corominas' exhibit "Pop-up A Sete!" Features a brilliant red cover and transformation that when pulled from the side... ...reveals a parade of shadowy figures inticing visitors to come on inside!
In 2001 the Bienes Center at the Broward County Library in Fort Lauderdale, Florida created this catalog featuring a rotating disc in the cover. Visitors were then greeted by Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa experiencing her first pop-up book!
